Check out Twenty-Nine New Game Cards from Magic's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Expansion (Including a Commander Deck!)
Everyone's beloved pizza-eating heroes are coming to Magic: The Gathering. The popular trading card game's publisher, the game's creators, revealed a much-awaited Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles collaboration at a special panel held at NYCC. Could this be a radical addition or yet another Universes Beyond marketing move? We'll let you be the judge.
Take a look below at everything announced from the Magic x Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles set, including some useful context. All items mentioned here launches on March 6, 2026, except for one item — a special Pizza Bundle arrives a few weeks later on March 27.
Magic x TMNT: Main Set Cards
Before diving into the many special decks and collections available, let’s take a look at the full lineup from the core Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles expansion unveiled by the developers. Play boosters for the expansion are set at $6.99 each, while Collector Boosters are priced at $37.99 per booster.
Let’s explore a couple of shell-shocking details. To begin, a new gameplay mechanic called Sneak, inspired by the pre-existing Ninjutsu, where players can cheat big creatures onto the game field when an attacking creature goes unblocked. The key change in this case is that Sneak can apply to non-creature spells too. Wizards also took the opportunity to clean up the mechanic a bit (Sneak is treated as playing a spell, unlike Ninjutsu). Ninjutsu isn't going away, but it's more likely we'll see the new mechanic in future sets moving forward.
Should we were to return to the Kamigawa plane, we might use Ninjutsu since that plane is it was developed and it is iconic of that world,” a senior game designer stated. “However in other settings, since the rules are cleaner and the new ability is what's going to be Standard-legal, it's more likely we’ll use Sneak.”
Another version of the leader Turtle, Sewer Samurai card, is one of four cards with special art designed exclusively for the expansion by TMNT co-creator the co-creator.
Oh, and, should you be surprised by the card text on Turtles Forever card, which allows playing cards outside of your main deck, many players were. Yet according to Wizards, it’s now a official card in all formats of Magic.
In any case, below are the extremely bizarre full-art lands from this set:
As per the company’s current policy, these cards are all legal in Magic’s Standard format. Developers say they took care to ensure the cards and mechanics meshed well with current Standard expansions like Edge of Eternities.
“I led the design for over a year and we were aware it would be Standard-legal and what other sets would be near it in standard,” the designer says. “We designed to ensure that there's synergy with certain expansions like Edge of Eternities.”
As an instance, each of TMNT and Edge of Eternities include a Izzet archetype focused on artifact cards.
“They combine to offer the pieces for a enjoyable Standard deck,” he says.
Preconstructed Commander: Turtle Power
Following a decision to design any Commander precons for the Spider-Man set and the upcoming Avatar: The Last Airbender expansions, the company is reversing course with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. This time it’s just one precon, but it does come with six distinct legendary cards that can serve as your commander depending on how you pair them (five cards have a special partner ability called “Character Select” that allows starting with two of them in the command area instead of only one). Check them out below:
This Commander precon is priced at $69.99, although the price may rise based on popularity. Wizards told that it includes 43 brand-new cards in total, which means an extra thirty-seven Turtle-themed game cards besides the six legendary creatures pictured earlier. (Calculating roughly, this suggests about 20 reprints if we assume the deck includes 37 lands.)
How will the TMNT edition of Sol Ring look like? We’ll just have to wait and find out.
Standard Bundle (Regular)
As per usual, the company is offering a collection. This one costs $69.99 and contains the following:

- Fifteen Non-foil land cards

Pizza-Themed Bundle

- One Collector Booster
- 25 Non-foil pizza lands

For those curious about the “Pizza Bundle promo card” is, it’s essentially a reprint of an older card featuring brand-new Turtle-themed art. Wizards revealed one for the popular Magic card Dark Ritual featuring art of Splinter adding toppings onto a pizza. In total, there are six distinct pizza promos in total.
The Pizza Bundle launches a couple of weeks later than the main set on March 27, 2026.

Cooperative Play Set
Lastly, the developers are doing something new with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles as part of its continued initiative to develop Magic game products specifically for beginners. Here, Turtle Team-Up is a special set of decks that allow two players join forces to face a “Boss” deck that pilots itself.
The concept is that every Boss card grants unique powers to the creatures contained in the Boss deck. Each Boss automatically casts one other card per turn, and players begin battling {one Boss|
